About
My daughter calls me “Martha” (after Martha Stewart) – because I love art, crafts, and photography. I have been a consumer of related products for quite some time. I grew up in a rural community where a variety of retail items there were very limited or non-existent–which, I think, promoted my creativity to produce what I wanted/needed using the limited products at my disposal.
My most recent interest is in making handcrafted jewelry. This interest began with my sister having a $10 gift card to spend and asked me to go along with her to spend it at a craft store. We bought beads and jewelry making products. From there, it became a fun pastime of attending jewelry product shows and taking a occasional classes to learn new techniques. My hobby/computer/TV room (daughter’s former bedroom) is getting smaller but with the right organization, it is quite functional. I enjoy dreaming up unique combinations of products and designs–the sky is the limit (and the bank account balance, of course).
My son set up this website to document and organize my jewelry and other interests. I am using it from time to time to post photos, travel, my creations, tools recommendations, tutorials on crafts, videos on jewelry making, equipment reviews, and other subjects of interest.
I am open to interest/opportunities in providing craft work and info for books, materials and content on craft making. I am also open to freelance photography and I have a great spot for that since I’m located in the sunny southwest. I love to travel and appreciate the beautiful scenery wherever I go. It’s always fun for me to bring back memories in pictures to share.
I have recently retired from the workforce and am looking toward selling my jewelry designs either at craft shows or online, or possibly both. It’s painful for me to let go of my creations but it’s not possible for me to continue creating more unless I say “goodbye” and share them with others. Since the jewelry making craft is so ubiquitous, I am leaning toward traveling to the smaller communities to sell in the upcoming months.
