This stripe rhondelle bead was from the African ceramic bead mix I used to create the last two pieces. Swarovski crystals add some sparkle since the rhondelle has a matte finish. The components are wrapped onto the leather cord with silver plated copper wire. The necklace is 18 inches long and is attached with a small lobster clasp. The pendant wire wrap spiral attaching the pendant to the cord can be removed from the leather cord in order to use the cord to wear a different pendant.

I purchased a mixed bag of ceramic beads quite some time ago that have been calling me to design–it’s challenged me every time I start to work with my jewelry. It’s crazy how many ways these beads can be used and how the different colors and shapes inspire different pieces. The ceramic beads are with silver plated beads and wire. The leather cord was hand wrapped with the wire and secured to the leather cord with adhesive. The closure is handcrafted along with the swirl dangle. The beads are strung onto wire and slightly bent to adhere closer to the wrist. The bend in the wire also serves to hold the beads on the top of the wrist. The bracelet is approximately 7 1/2 inches in length.

The ceramic beads in this bracelet were in a mixed bag I purchased some time ago. I added faceted Czech rhondelles and wired them together using 20 guage brass. the handcrafted a hook can be secured between whatever bead fits on the wrist. I’m concerned that the black design on the focal bead looks somewhat like a swastika.

Mentioned only in Rev. 21:19, as one of the precious stones in the foundation of the New Jerusalem. The name of this stone is derived from Chalcedon, where it is said to have been first discovered.
In modern mineralogy this is the name of an agate-like quartz of a bluish color.

Rock Lore & Tidbits: George Swanson discovered blue lace agate on his farm, Ysterputs Farm, in Namibia, which was called South West Africa at the time. He coined the term “Gem of Ecology” for it because of the swirling blues and whites which resemble clouds above the Earth (the fragile blue marble) as seen from space. The best blue lace agate in the world still comes from the narrow seam on George’s farm.
Blue lace agate is a gentle, calming stone that engenders tranquility. Blue lace agate brings with this calm and tranquility a lessening of anger, even deep anger issues, and a calming of nervousness. It can help bring stronger intuition and inner knowing. Inspiration is another hallmark of blue lace agate and is considered a stone of communication. As with all agates, Blue lace agate is a protective stone. Its protective energies are more gentle and subtle than some stones. In the crystal healing realm, blue lace agate has been used to aid with arthritis, headaches, colic, digestive issues, growth, throat, skin especially eczema, and bones.
