Earrings: Rainbow Fluorite Hearts, Handcrafted Silver Wire Components

Fluorite, also called fluorspar, adds a refreshing touch wherever it appears. Whether you wear the translucent lavender or the medley of cool rainbow colored beads, the effect is the same.  You’ll feel relaxed and perked up at the same time as if you’d just stepped out of a cool shower.  Its name comes from the Latin word “fleure” which means “to flux”.  I especially love using rainbow fluorite beads because their range of colors and variety of fascinating shapes blends with and complements solid color gemstones so beautifully.  And like a rainbow, which I never tire of, each fluorite bead is unique and lovely. Have you ever noticed the effect of a beautiful rainbow?  It softens something in us.  For a moment, we let go of everything.  We feel connected to something larger than ourselves and to everyone else standing there looking at that rainbow.  It reminds us that we can always begin again.  That’s the wonderful sense of life fluorite gives us whenever we wear it.

Earrings: Rhodonite Hearts with Swarovski Crystal on Handcrafted Silver Wire Components

Rosy pink rhodonite with its dark inclusions is that perfect mixture.  Rhodonite comes from Sweden, Australia, and the lush island of Vancouver in Canada.  Something happens when you wear it. You feel relaxed and revitalized.  Rhodonite does for us what paying attention to nature always does for us–It softens our needs.  It helps us put petty things behind us.  It reminds us that leisure is important and that there’s a bigger picture we often lose sight of.  We pay attention to small things like the petals of tiny white daisies, the gossamer wings of a dragonfly, or a leaf pressed so long into a stone it has become part of it.  That’s the experience and wisdom of rhodonite.

Earrings: Botswana Agate with Handcrafted Silver Wire Componenets

Agates were used in ancient times as talismans to protect the wearer from storms, to quench thirst and to bring good luck-all important things for surviving in the subtropics. Botswana agate, in particular, has been used traditionally to sustain attentiveness to detail.  It’s an ability needed by every successful person in today’s changing but nonetheless difficult world, regardless of what kind of jungle that person goes off to each morning (or returns to in the evening).

Earrings: Rainbow Moonstone with Silver Wire Wrap & Ear Hooks

Rainbow moonstone has an immediate and constant beauty.  In Europe, moonstone is the sole birthstone for June, although in the U. S. it shares that honor with alexandrite and pearl.  Moonstone is often called the visionary’s stone.  It helps us see things more clearly.  Rainbow moonstone, in particular, offers us visions of things that aren’t immediately obvious.  Because it helps us avoid tunnel vision, we are able to see other possibilities. It’s like a flash of inspiration that comes when we are open and quiet.  When we wear rainbow moonstone, life-changing inspirations can happen more and more often.

Pineapple quartz is ideal for dressing up everyday wear because of its durability and neutral tone and because of its natural sparkle and shine.  Quartz is said to help structure, focus and amplify thoughts and information.  It is also thought to transmit energy. Because the color yellow is associated with clarity, communication and happiness, it is believed to help balance and strengthen these aspects

Earrings: New Jade Rounds on Handcrafted Brass Hoops

Sometimes nothing soothes and restores our spirits like the color green.  Jade is found all over the world and it may have a variety of appearances, chemical compositions and even names.  “New jade”  is said to have the same spiritual values as green jade. Because it produces a tranquil mood, it helps us when we’re depressed, especially when we feel stuck in a situation.  Wear it when you can’t stand the person you’re living with for another minute longer or your job is driving you crazy.  Wear it whenever what you’d really like to do is run away, but you think it’s wiser not to.  Like green jade, “new jade” can help you get grounded, so you can live with the situation and feel more tranquil while you’re doing it.

I created this design as a gift for a friend that I snow ski with.  She doesn’t like to turn–so these are to remind her

of the turns she needs to make to control her speed as she hot dogs down the slopes.  I should name them “Ruthless”.
